With a bit of imagination it becomes a "Darth Maul" style double light saber - the two foam bats connect and disconnect at the base of the handle to form a strong, light and soft-tipped double. Our son connects and disconnects them constantly as part of his play and even that feature has proven very strong and well built.
If you buy two sets (ours came with one orange and one purple end) you can mix and match to create an orange double and a purple one - perfect for good vs. evil play.
